The combination of snow and the COVID-19 pandemic has forced the 5A-West, Mountain Home’s basketball conference, to make changes in determining who goes to the postseason.
Mountain Home’s next two scheduled outings will not be played. Both Bomber teams were scheduled to host Greenwood Friday, and the boys’ game Saturday at Greenbrier was canceled.
All of the boys’ teams will move on to play in the 5A-West District Tournament. Mountain Home will enter as the sixth-seeded team and host Greenbrier Monday at 5 p.m. If the Bombers win, they’ll head to Van Buren Tuesday for a 6 p.m. outing with the Pointers. The semifinals will be Thursday, and the championship and third-place games are set for Friday. Mountain Home must advance to the semifinals to secure a bid to the Class 5A State Tournament.
Following the game on Monday, Mountain Home will have its Senior Night festivities. The Bombers will recognize the outgoing seniors for boys’ and girls’ basketball, bowling, swimming, cheerleading and dance.
The girls’ side is going to finish the conference season with the top four teams moving on to the state tournament. Mountain Home will travel to Russellville on Tuesday. The Lady Bombers will finish the regular season next Friday by hosting Greenwood.
