As the snow begins to melt and crews continue to clear the roads, hazardous travel conditions remain in some areas.
A spokesperson for the Marion County Sheriff’s Office says there are still side roads in the county covered with frozen precipitation, although the main highways remain clear. Roads in Baxter County were cleared as of Thursday morning, and a Mountain Home Police Department spokesperson says the streets are mainly clear in the city, with the possibility of some having patches due to overnight fog. A spokesperson for the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office says roads there are mainly clear, as well.
IDriveArkansas.com shows rough travel conditions on a pair of area highways. Arkansas Highway 5 from the Baxter/Izard county line and throughout Stone County and Arkansas Highway 9 throughout Izard County are both reported to have ice patches.
The Missouri Department of Transportation’s traveler information map shows area roads are mainly clear, with a few highways still have frozen precipitation. Missouri Highway 17 from West Plains to the state line, U.S. Highway 63 Business in West Plains, Missouri Route K from West Plains to just a few miles west and Missouri Route 14 from Ava west to Dogwood are all partly covered.
