Friday basketball results include MHCA winning 3 of 5 over Eagle Heights

There was high school basketball in the area Friday.

Mountain Home Christian Academy picked up three wins playing five games against Eagle Heights at Harrison.
The varsity boys’ game ended with Mountain Home Christian beating Eagle Heights 69-56. Gideon Spray led Mountain Home Christian with 23 points, Trenton Cox and Jordan Woods scored 14 each, and Stone Robinson added 11.
Mountain Home Christian did not fare as well in the varsity girls’ contest, as they fell to Eagle Heights 59-49. Mountain Home Christian was led by Caroline Robinson with 16 points, and Olivia Spray chipped in 12.
Mountain Home Christian topped Eagle Heights in the 14-and-under boys’ game 49-42. Gabe Spray was Mountain Home Christian’s top scorer with 23 points.
Mountain Home Christian lost to Eagle Heights 36-16 in the 14-and-under girls’ contest. Olivia Spray led Mountain Home Christian with 13 points.
The night began with the 12-and-under boys’ game as Mountain Home Christian beat Eagle Heights 40-9.

The 2A-1 District Tournament got underway on Friday.

Cotter’s boys were able to go on the road and pull off an upset. The Warriors secured a regional tournament bid by beating Yellville-Summit 41-35. Cotter will travel to Alpena Tuesday for its semifinal game.
Flippin breezed through its opening game on the boys’ side. The mercy rule was invoked, as the top-seeded Bobcats routed Decatur 82-23. Flippin will host the Arkansas Arts Academy in the other semifinal on Tuesday.
Flippin’s girls will join their male counterparts in the regional tournament, as they also had an easy win. The Lady Bobcats put the mercy rule in effect pounding Eureka Springs 60-18. Flippin’s semifinal game will be Thursday against the winner of the game between Decatur and Life Way Christian.
Yellville-Summit fared better on the girls’ bracket, as they blew past Alpena 50-20. The Lady Panthers were led by Kambree Gibson with 23 points, and Jacey Davenport had 11.  Yellville-Summit will head to Cotter Thursday for the semifinals.  The Lady Warriors had a first round bye as the top-seeded team.
