Tuesday basketball results include Cotter boys falling in district semifinals

Tuesday’s basketball results included two local boys’ teams playing in the semifinals of the 2A-1 District Tournament.
Cotter was eliminated from the tournament with a 59-44 loss at Alpena. The Warriors will move on to the Class 2A West Regional Tournament next week at Magazine.
Flippin invoked the mercy rule in the other semifinal, as they routed the Arkansas Arts Academy 77-44. The top-seeded Bobcats will host Alpena in the title game on Friday.

The 1A-1 East District Tournament held two girls’ games on Tuesday.
Ozark Mountain secured a regional tournament berth by topping Omaha 62-43. Macy Young led the Lady Bears with 20 points, and Kaleena Ricketts added 15. Ozark Mountain will head to Jasper Thursday for its semifinal game.
Lead Hill took the other game in the tournament topping Deer 41-29. The Lady Tigers’ next game will be Thursday at top-seeded Kingston.

Calico Rock’s boys watched their season come to an end in the 1A-2 District Tournament, as they fell to Izard County 60-31. The Cougars were led by Coby Everett with 21 points, and Caleb Faulkner chipped in 12. Izard County improves to 23-5 on the season and will travel to Viola on Thursday for the semifinals.

The 3A-1 District Tournament held its boys’ semifinal round on Tuesday, with two area teams advancing to the title game. Top-seeded Bergman beat Green Forest 76-47, and Valley Springs defeated Elkins 52-34. The Panthers and Tigers will play in the championship game on Saturday.

In Missouri, three local teams competed in the semifinals of the Class 2, District 10 Tournament.
Bakersfield’s season came to an end in one semifinal. The Lady Lions were bounced by Gainesville 55-26.
Dora will be the Lady Bulldogs’ opponent in Thursday’s title game. The Lady Falcons picked up the 65-55 win over Summersville.
