Two people are in critical condition in a Springfield hospital after a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of U.S. Highway 63 and Missouri Route CC/Gibson Avenue Thursday night in West Plains.
The West Plains Police Department reports an investigation of the crash showed a northbound van driven by 36-year-old Daniel French of West Plains made a left-hand turn at a red light at the intersection and collided with a southbound SUV.
The crash caused one occupant of the SUV to become entrapped and one occupant to be ejected. Their names are not being released at this time.
French was taken into custody and placed on a 24-hour hold for driving while intoxicated (Prior Offender) and two counts of second-degree assault. Formal charges are pending from the Howell County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
