
Thursday’s busy high school basketball schedule includes Mountain Home’s boys competing for a district title. The Bombers will be in Russellville to play in the championship game of the 5A-West District Tournament.
Mountain Home is 10-12 after getting a one-point at Vilonia in Tuesday’s semifinals. Russellville is 19-5 after beating Siloam Springs in the other semifinal by three. The last meeting between the two teams was on Feb. 23, when the Bombers fell to the Cyclones 56-46.
Tip-off at Cyclone Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com.
Regional tournaments continue in Arkansas, and the Class 1A Region 2 Tournament will conclude its first round Thursday on the campus of Izard County High School in Brockwell. On the girls’ side, Viola and Hillcrest tip off at 10 a.m., and Norfork meets Maynard at 4. The Izard County boys face Mammoth Spring at 7.
Flippin’s girls will play their first game in the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Magazine. The Lady Bobcats take on Mountainburg at 10 a.m.
The Class 1A Region 1 Tournament will wrap up its opening round at Lead Hill. On the girls’ bracket, Jasper and Mulberry get underway at 10, and Ozark Mountain plays County Line at 4. The Lead Hill boys will be paired with Ozark Catholic at 7.
Salem’s girls will be in Melbourne for their opener in the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament. The Lady Greyhounds meet South Side-Bee Branch at 10.
Both of Valley Springs’ teams will wrap up the first round of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at Bergman by facing Cedarville. The girls’ game starts at 4, and the boys’ contest is set for 7.
The Harrison girls will play the first game of the day in the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Ozark. The Lady Goblins take on the host Lady Hillbillies at 10.
In Missouri, two area girls’ teams will compete for trip to the state tournament. Forsyth will host Ava in the title game of the Class 4, District 11 Tournament at 6 p.m.
