
Mountain Home Christian Academy picked up three wins at Springfield for four basketball games with Lighthouse Christian.
The Lady Eagles took the varsity girls’ game 55-27. Naomi Spray led Mountain Home Christian with 15 points, and Hayley Woods and Haley Uhlmann added 10 each.
Mountain Home Christian’s only loss was in the varsity boys’ contest, as they fell to Lighthouse Christian 55-27. The Eagles were led by Trenton Cox and Gideon Spray with 10 points each.
Mountain Home Christian came out on top in the 14-and-under boys’ game with a 41-34 final. Gabe Spray was the 14-and-under Eagles’ top scorer with 31 points.
The evening began with the 14-and-under girls’ game with Mountain Home Christian beating Lighthouse Christian 30-13. Caroline Robinson paced the 14-and-under Lady Eagles with 18 points.
Elsewhere, regional tournaments held their semifinals throughout Arkansas.
Cotter’s girls advanced to the title game of the Class 2A West Regional Tournament at Magazine. The Lady Warriors defeated Mansfield 57-42.
Flippin will be Cotter’s last opponent in the tournament. The Lady Bobcats moved on to the final with a 69-58 victory over Acorn.
The Class 1A Region 2 Tournament held its semifinal round at Izard County High School in Brockwell.
The Norfork girls were sent to the third-place game by a familiar conference foe. The Lady Panthers fell to Rural Special 48-25.
Viola will be Norfork’s opponent in Saturday’s morning session. The Lady Longhorns lost to Greers Ferry West Side by a final of 52-46.
Viola fared better on the boys’ side advancing to the championship game by topping Izard County 54-48. The Cougars were led by Caleb Faulkner and Coby Everett with 18 points.
The semifinals of the Class 1A Region 1 Tournament were held at Lead Hill.
Ozark Mountain’s girls will play for the title after beating the host Lady Tigers 53-45. Kaleena Ricketts was the Lady Bears’ leading scorer with 15 points, and Jailyn Jackson added 13. Kelsey Rogers scored 33 points for Lead Hill.
Ozark Mountain’s opponent in Saturday’s final will be Kingston. Jasper fell to the Lady Yellowjackets by a score of 54-37.
Ozark Mountain was sent to the third-place game of the boys’ bracket with a 56-48 loss to County Line. Zack Bolin led the Bears with 22 points.
Lead Hill will be Ozark Mountain’s opponent this weekend. The Tigers lost the last semifinal game to the New School 54-28.
Three area teams were victorious in the semifinals of the Class 2A Central Regional Tournament at Melbourne.
Salem was able to move on to the final of the girls’ bracket. The Lady Greyhounds beat Bigelow with a 62-48 decision.
Salem will be paired with Melbourne in the title game one week after meeting for the district championship. The Lady Bearkatz had a 65-46 win over Quitman.
Melbourne’s boys will join their female counterparts in the finals. The Bearkatz edged out Tuckerman by a final of 61-58.
The Mountain View girls picked up an easy in the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 2 Tournament at Manila. Mountain View doubled up another group of Lady Yellowjackets from Clinton 66-33.
Bergman hosted the semifinals of the Class 3A Region 1 Tournament at the Panther Palace, and both host teams came away with wins.
Bergman put the mercy rule in effect in the first boys’ game of the day. The Panthers routed Elkins by a score of 88-47.
Bergman also beat up on Elkins on the girls’ side. The Lady Panthers pounded the Lady Elks 72-45.
Valley Springs will be Bergman’s opponent in the girls’ title game. In a battle between Lady Tigers, Valley Springs breezed past West Fork 57-37.
Harrison’s girls sent to the third-place game of the Class 4A North Regional Tournament at Ozark. The Lady Goblins fell to Pea Ridge 57-54.
In Missouri, the West Plains girls were able to secure a state tournament berth. The Lady Zizzers were crowned the champions of the Class 5, District 9 Tournament with a 56-32 win over Marshfield. West Plains will meet Willard in the sectional round on Wednesday.
The Class 4, District 11 Tournament held its boys’ title game on Friday. Top-seeded Hollister was knocked off on its home floor by Ava 63-56. The Bears’ first game in the Class 4 State Tournament will be Tuesday.
