Law enforcement in Searcy County is asking for the public’s help in locating a missing teen who was last seen over two weeks ago. Searcy County Sheriff Kenny Cassell says 15-year-old Michael Cowan went missing Feb. 20 from his home in the Mt. Hershey Road area in northwest Searcy County.

Cassell says the boy’s mother reported her son went to bed the night of the 19th, but when she awoke the next morning, he was gone. She thought he had gone outside to do his chores, because the back door was open. She then discovered a note from her son saying he was leaving but would come back. The note also said, “Don’t call the cops, I’ll just go deeper in the woods where the dogs won’t find me.”

The sheriff says the teen did not take anything with him when he left, including clothes or his cellphone.

Anyone with information about Michael Cowan’s whereabouts is asked to call the Searcy County Sheriff’s Office at (870)448-2340.
