PARK HILLS, Mo. (AP) – A Missouri man attempting to retrieve his boat on an eastern Missouri lake has drowned, authorities said.
Ron Missey, 79, drowned Wednesday afternoon in Lac Shayne northwest of Park Hills, the Daily Journal reported.
Missey lived in the Terre Du Lac lake community. Terre Du Lac Fire Chief Dave Rohlic said the drowning was reported about 5 p.m. Wednesday when a teenager walking his dog spotted a body floating in the lake, behind a house about three doors down from Missey’s property.
Officials determined Missey had been using a canoe to pursue his boat, which had broken loose from a dock, when he ended up in the water, Rohlic said.
