Much of Northwest Arkansas remains under a ‘high’ warning for potential wildfire danger Tuesday, while the rest of northern Arkansas remains under a ‘moderate’ warning for wildfires, the Arkansas Forestry Commission warns.
The high warning extends from Washington and Crawford counties eastward to Boone, Newton and Pope counties. The wildfire warning drops to moderate beginning with Marion and Searcy counties and continues eastward to the Missouri boot heel.
Across southern Missouri, the National Weather Service forecasts for warm and breezy conditions to continue, with wind gusts stronger than those experienced yesterday. The gusts are expected to usher in an increase in low-level moisture, so afternoon humidities should generally reman above 40 percent for Tuesday.
The Arkansas Forestry Commission reports that prescribed burns are scheduled Tuesday for Fulton, Independence, Newton and Stone counties. The two Fulton County scheduled burns are located 7 miles south of Salem and 6 miles southwest of Viola. Independence County’s scheduled burn is located 13 miles northeast of Batesville; Newton County’s burn is located 22 miles southeast of Jasper and Stone County’s burn is located 3 miles southwest of Calico Rock.
