
The Mountain Home High School baseball team had a successful Senior Night on Tuesday as they swept a conference doubleheader over Russellville. The Bombers doubled up the Cyclones 2-1 in the opener and also took the second game 6-5.
Cotter suffered a loss on the road. The Warriors fell to Yellville-Summit 9-6.
Norfork was also defeated in a conference road game. The Panthers lost to Viola 12-0.
Gainesville was able to have a good road trip. The Bulldogs picked up a 4-1 victory at Mansfield.
Salem went to Imboden and beat another group of Greyhounds as they got past Sloan-Hendrix 11-9. Trevor Leisenring pitched for the first four innings for Salem, struck out seven batters and gave up six hits and four earned runs. Matt Guffey took the mound for the last three frames, recorded two strikeouts and gave up five hits and two earned runs. Leisenring also provided plenty of offense with three hits and three RBIs, Dalton Steward hit three singles and drove in two runs, Guffey added three hits, and Gavin Guiltner had a two-run base hit. Salem improves to 10-7 on the season and 5-2 in conference play.
Izard County was able to record two no-hitters as they swept a doubleheader over Concord.
Gunner Gleghorn was the pitcher in the first game as the Cougars won 15-0. He recorded eight strikeouts. Izard County was led by Zach Simmons with two hits and four RBIs, Noah Everett and Landon McBride each added two hits and drove in a run, and Caleb Faulkner had a hit and two RBIs.
Denton Reiley was credited with the six-strikeout no-hitter in the late game as the Cougars blanked Concord 20-0. Brenden Gray led Izard County with two hits and three RBIs, Chase Orf provided two hits and drove in two runs, and McBride, Simmons and Gavin Stephens each added two RBIs.
The Cougars improve to 8-2 on the year and 4-1 in the 1A-2.
Mammoth Spring had a rough day in front of the home crowd. The Bears were doubled up by Marked Tree 12-6.
Melbourne had a successful road trip. The Bearkatz were able to defeat McCrory by a score of 4-1.
Mountain View came up just short in a high-scoring game at home. The Yellowjackets were edged out by Bald Knob 14-13.
Mountain Home was also able to sweep Russellville for Senior Night on the softball diamond.
The Lady Bombers blanked the Lady Cyclones 2-0 in the first game. Lauren Loving was credited with the win after striking out 10 batters and giving up one hit and one walk. Marcie Cudworth and Emily Payne each went one-for-three, and Tori Robb and Gracie Uchtmann were each one-for-two.
Mountain Home later won the nightcap 5-2 over Russellville. Reagan Hasselwander finished with 12 strikeouts in the circle. Cudworth went two-for-four with an RBI, Katelyn Hill was one-for-three with a two-run home run, and Georgia Burnham went one-for-one with three walks and an RBI.
The Lady Bombers are now 13-7 on the season and 8-2 in the 5A-West, and they’ll travel to Greenwood next Tuesday.
Norfork had a rough outing as they went to Viola. The Lady Panthers lost to the Lady Longhorns 17-0.
Flippin had an easy win on the road as they beat up on Lavaca 16-1. Maddie Lindsey picked up her 10th win in the circle this season. Lindsey and Kaylee Warren led the Lady Bobcats’ offense with two hits and two RBIs each. Flippin’s record improves to 12-5.
Salem grabbed a dominating win in Black Rock. In a battle between Lady Greyhounds, Salem shut out Sloan-Hendrix 18-0.
Mammoth Spring went to Strawberry and swept a doubleheader over Hillcrest. The Lady Bears blanked the Lady Screamin’ Eagles 6-0 in the first game, and Mammoth Spring pounded Hillcrest 14-4 in the nightcap. The Lady Bears are now 12-3 on the year and 4-0 in the 1A-3.
Mountain View ended up with another conference loss at home. The Lady Yellowjackets fell to Bald Knob 9-2.
