The Mountain Home School District is currently in the process of administering the state-mandated ACT Aspire exams.

Versions of the test are given each year to students in the third grade through the 10th grade. Arkansas schools are resuming the ACT Aspire tests after skipping last year’s exams due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Pinkston Middle School’s sixth-graders began testing Tuesday, taking the reading and writing portions. They took the math section Wednesday and are taking the science and English portions today.

The Mountain Home Junior High’s eighth-graders also started ACT Aspire testing this week, tackling the English and science portions Tuesday. They completed the math section Wednesday and will finish up with the reading and writing sections today.

Hackler Intermediate’s third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students will take the ACT Aspire exams beginning next week. Students at that building will be tested in reading on Monday,; math on Tuesday; science on Wednesday; and writing and English on Thursday.

Mountain Home’s ninth- and 10th-graders have already been tested and makeup exams are currently being held for students that missed the original exams last week, Director of Student Services Ron Czanstkowski said.

Mountain Home’s first-graders and second-graders will take the NWEA-MAP tests the last week of April, and the district’s kindergarteners will take their version of that exam the first week in May. The NWEA-MAP tests focuses on literacy and math skills with an emphasis on reading, Czanstkowski said.

The Mountain Home High School will administer AP exams for students the first week in May, Czanstkowski said.
