Russell named new principal at MHHS

Mary Beth Russell has been named the new principal at Mountain Home High School, according to Mountain Home Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jake Long.

Russell most recently served the district as an assistant principal at the high school campus. In a corresponding move, current Dean of Students Phillip Goodwin will transfer to Russell’s assistant principal position.

In Thursday’s regular monthly meeting of the Mountain Home School Board, members approved the 2021-2022 district’s school-level improvement plans, a required yearly procedure, according to Long.

Three MHPS staff members – Owen Carpenter, Ron Czanstkowski and Tammye Quick – were recognized for reaching 30 years of service in the Mountain Home District.

In other action, the board approved the purchase of two 71-passenger, gasoline-powered, route buses for a price of just under $98,000 each. The buses will replace two current high mileage buses, some of which have over 200,000 miles. The board also approved the repair of electric panels at Guy Berry College & Career Academy.

The board also approved final adjustments to this year’s district budget and heard financial and enrollment reports, as well as facility projects updates.
