For the first time ever, the Mountain Home High School athletic program was able to announce a member of its girls’ wrestling program will be competing on the collegiate level. Senior Victoria Bevel signed a national letter of intent Friday to attend Colorado Mesa University in Grand Junction.
Bevel says there were a couple of reasons she decided to continue her athletic career as a Maverick.
Listen:
Bevel is coming off a season in which she helped lead the Lady Bombers to their first ever state wrestling championship. Individually, she finished as the state runner-up in the 150-pound weight division. Bevel says the teammates and coaches surrounding her at Mountain Home have helped her prepare for the next level.
Listen:
Colorado Mesa fielded its first women’s wrestling program in the fall of 2018, and since then, it has become one of the top programs in the country. This winter, the Mavericks finished fourth in the National Collegiate Women’s Wrestling Championship for the second straight year, and eight of their competitors received All-American honors. Bevel says she is looking forward to joining a team with some of the best wrestlers in the world.
Listen:
Victoria is the daughter of Bobby and Ann-Marie Bevel of Mountain Home.
