Monday results include Norfork baseball, softball teams losing to Calico Rock

The Norfork High School baseball team had a rough outing at home on Monday. The Panthers fell to Calico Rock 11-4.

Flippin was able to clinch the 2A-1 conference championship after sweeping a doubleheader over Life Way Christian.
The Bobcats took the first game 11-1 over the Warriors. Brycen Benedict and Philip Pasthing combined to strike out 12 batters. Dale Smyser led the offense by going three-for-three.
Jackson Jones was able to record 16 strikeouts in a complete game effort as Flippin beat Life Way Christian 9-1 in the nightcap. Dalton Upchurch led the Bobcats by going two-for-two and scoring four runs.

Izard County was able to secure a regional tournament berth with a 4-1 win over Greers Ferry West Side. Landon McBride picked up the victory as he pitched five innings, struck out seven batters and gave up two hits. Zach Simmons led the Cougar offense with two base hits, Noah Everett provided a hit and drove in three runs, and Chase Orf and McBride each added a hit. Izard County improves to 12-2 on the season and 7-1 in the 1A-2.

Bergman was able to dominate a doubleheader over Lincoln. The Panthers beat the Wolves 9-5 in the opener and recorded a 15-0 shutout in the second game.

Norfork’s softball team did not fare any better than their baseball counterparts. The Lady Panthers lost to Calico Rock 25-1.

Izard County ended up splitting a doubleheader with Concord. The Lady Cougars were down to the final out in the first game when Ava Lewis hit a grand slam for the 8-7 win over the Lady Pirates. Izard County did not fare as well in the second game as they were edged out by Concord 3-2. Emilee Engles pitched complete games in both contests. The Lady Cougars are 10-6 overall and 7-4 in the 1A-2.

Bergman was swept in a doubleheader by Lincoln. The Lady Panthers lost to the Lady Wolves 20-1 and 28-1.
