
The Cotter High School softball had a short but tough road trip on Friday. The Lady Warriors fell to Flippin 11-1.
Norfork suffered a conference loss at Greers Ferry. The Lady Panthers fell to West Side 5-0.
Gainesville had a rough outing in front of the home crowd. The Lady Bulldogs lost to Conway 7-5.
Viola picked up another conference win on its home field. The Lady Longhorns defeated Calico Rock 10-0.
Mammoth Spring was able to top Alton, Missouri, 4-1. The Lady Bears improve to 17-3 on the season, and they’ll travel to Salem on Tuesday.
Melbourne had a tough day at home as they stepped out of conference play. The Lady Bearkatz fell to Rose Bud 11-1.
Mountain View suffered another loss as they went to Newark. The Yellowjackets fell to Cedar Ridge 9-2.
Valley Springs notched another victory on the road. The Lady Tigers beat Clinton 10-4.
In baseball, Gainesville began action in the Southern Missouri Invitational Tournament at Dora with a pair of wins. The Bulldogs defeated Bakersfield 12-4 and Mountain Grove 10-7.
Elsewhere, Flippin suffered a 14-4 loss at home to Melbourne. The Bobcats fall to 13-6 on the season, and the Bearkatz improve to 20-2.
Viola had another win at home as they moved outside of league action. The Longhorns beat Valley Springs 16-1.
Salem went on the road and edged out Bergman 8-7. Gavin Guiltner started on the mound for the Greyhounds as he pitched four innings, struck out eight batters and gave up two hits and five earned runs. Conner Henderson made his first appearance on the mound for Salem, pitched two innings, recorded three strikeouts and gave up one hit and one earned run. Matt Guffey closed the game by pitching the final inning, striking out two batters and giving up no hits and no runs.
Offensively for the Greyhounds, Trevor Leisinring and Kyler Willett each hit three singles, Jacob Earl had two hits and two RBIs, and Lucas Foster added two singles.
Salem improves to 13-10 on the season, and they’ll finish the regular season May 3 against West Plains.
