The Mountain Home High School athletic department was able to present another senior going on to compete in the collegiate level. Mat Jones signed a national letter of intent Wednesday to join the men’s basketball program at Rogers State University in Claremore, Oklahoma.

Jones says his decision to become a Hillcat came after meeting the coaching staff.

Jones has been a three year starter for the Bombers’ high school program, but he saw his share of ups and downs during his senior year. He was out with an injury for the majority of conference play, but he was able to come back and help lead Mountain Home to a runner-up finish in the 5A-West District Tournament and to the quarterfinals of the Class 5A State Tournament. He ended up being named to the All-Tournament team.

Jones says during the time he was sidelined, the support from the Bomber coaches were what drove him to come back and shine at the end of the season.
