Friday results include MHHS baseball team topping Fayetteville

The Mountain Home High School baseball team picked up a win in front of the home crowd as they topped Fayetteville 5-2. Jacob Czanstkowski was the winning pitcher with a complete game, five strikeouts, six hits, two walks and one earned run. Trent Jordan led the Bomber offense by going two-for-three with three RBIs, and Will Beckham was one-for-three with a run and an RBI.

The 1A-2 District Baseball Tournament came to an end at West Side High School in Greers Ferry. Norfork began the day by beating Calico Rock 9-1, but they later fell to Viola 15-0 in the semifinals. Izard County took the other semifinal by edging out the host Eagles 4-3. The title game needed 12 innings to complete, but Viola was able to beat Izard County 9-8.

Flippin won the 2A-1 District Tournament with a 12-0 victory over Yellville-Summit at the Equity Bank Sports Complex in Harrison. Brycen Benedict threw a complete game for the Bobcats, struck out 13 batters and gave up two base hits. Jackson Jones led Flippin by going two-for-two with a home run and five RBIs.

Salem ended up losing in the semifinals of the 2A-2 District Tournament at Tuckerman. The Greyhounds fell to Melbourne by a score of 6-4.

The 1A-2 District Softball Tournament also ended in Greers Ferry. Viola started off by beating Calico Rock 6-2, but they later fell to Izard County 16-10. The Lady Cougars lost the championship game to West Side 4-1.

Salem was bounced from the 2A-2 District Tournament at Tuckerman. The Lady Greyhounds were doubled up by Melbourne 4-2.

Mammoth Spring won the 1A-3 District Tournament at Armorel. The Lady Bears shut out Marked Tree 13-0 and later beat Armorel 7-1 in the final. Mammoth Spring improves to 19-4 on the season.
