The Mountain Home High School athletic program will be looking for another leader for one of its spring sports. Lady Bombers’ head soccer coach Debbie Atkinson has decided to step away after being on the sidelines for over 10 years.

Atkinson says she came to Mountain Home originally to coach the boys’ team in 2001.

Atkinson led the Lady Bombers to state championships in 2009 and 2011. During her time leading the program, Mountain Home went to another state title match and seven final fours.

Atkinson says it was a tough decision to leave the team, and she hated saying goodbye to her players. At the same time, she believes the team will continue to prosper.

While Atkinson is stepping away from athletics, she is not leaving the district. She is currently the director of the preschool program and after-school program, and she serves as a special educator at Mountain Home High School Career Academies.
