An abandoned, damaged building bordering the campus of Baxter Regional Medical Center has been purchased by the facility and will be demolished immediately, according to an news release from BRMC.

The building is the former site of the Hiram Shaddox Geriatric Health and Rehab and was purchased from Health Care Solutions, LLC.

The 3.2 acre lot has been in a state of disrepair since heavy winds and tornadoes left the building with a heavily damaged roof and a collapsed wall in 2018.

Barney Larry, Baxter Regional VP/Business Development and Executive Director, Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation, says, “plans to obtain this plot have been in development for quite some time. We are excited to begin demolition and to begin planning for even more services to become available to our community.”

Ron Peterson, President & CEO of Baxter Regional, says “We don’t have any plans set in stone, but whatever is decided on will be based on meeting the needs of the community. For the time being, we will be focused on cleaning up the lot to make everyone’s experience at Baxter Regional more pleasant.”
