A 27-year-old man has been sentenced to three years in prison on charges stemming from a fight in the Marion County jail and a theft from a Yellville business.

Christopher Charles Lamkin of Yellville appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

His plea and sentencing in the Marion County cases were done in Baxter County due to scheduling conflicts.

Lamkin was charged with aggravated assault and impairing the operation of a vital public facility stemming from the jail fight, and commercial burglary and theft for the robbery at the business.

The jail fight took place in October last year and involved several inmates, including Lamkin.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Lamkin was observed actively involved in the fight. Jail staff reported he struck another inmate “several times before backing off.”

The fight was finally broken up and the inmates were locked down in their cells.

Lamkin was also charged with robbing Breadeaux Pizza in Yellville in July last year.

According to the probable cause affidavit in that case, almost $300 was reported missing from the cash register. There was no evidence of forcible entry.

The investigation revealed a person identified as Lamkin’s girlfriend, 41-year-old Charissa Jenkins, worked at the business and had a key to the building.

Footage from several nearby surveillance cameras showed a person resembling Lamkin approach the rear doors of the pizza business building and, after several minutes, run out of those same doors.

A vehicle belonging to Jenkins was seen in the area at the time of the robbery.

Investigators interviewed Jenkin’s mother and she said she asked her daughter where she was going on the morning of the robbery.

She reported her daughter saying, “I’m taking him out of town,” referring to Lamkin.

Interviews were set up with Lamkin and Jenkins but they failed to show. They were reported to have left town and gone on a trip to Florida.

Lamkin was not arrested until Sept. 5 last year when he was found hiding in the attic of a residence along Marion County Road 6035.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office had posted a notice on Facebook Aug. 10 last year noting Lamkin was being sought in connection with the pizza shop robbery.

Jenkins was also in Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday. The state announced it was dropping charges against her stemming from the pizza shop robbery.

She did plead guilty to drug-related charges stemming from a traffic stop in March last year. She was sentenced to four years probation.
