Boone County Judge urges residents to get vaccinated

County Judge Robert Hathaway is urging Boone County residents to get vaccinated against COVID-19.The Arkansas Department of Health reports that Boone County currently has 125 active COVID-19 cases, with 71 cases confirmed and 54 probables. As the latest surge in COVID-19 cases has swept across southwest Missouri and north central Arkansas, Boone County has seen its total number of cases double in a week.

Hathaway says the latest COVID-19 variant is something that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Health Department numbers indicate that 27.6% of Boone County residents over the age of 12 have been fully immunized against the coronavirus, and 6.1% of county residents have been partially immunized.

State health officials have said that the current spike in COVID cases is likely due to the large number of residents that remain unvaccinated.

North Arkansas Regional Medical Center is holding a series of community vaccine clinics every Friday through the end of the month. Clinics will be held from 9-11:30 each Friday on the hospital’s campus, and will offer both the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.

To schedule an appointment for a clinic, call (870) 414-2021. The call center is open Monday-Friday from 9-1. Vaccinations may also be scheduled by calling (870) 743-5244.

North Arkansas Regional is also holding a drive-thru screening clinic Mondays-Saturdays from 10-3 at the NARMC Medical Plaza, located at 1401 Highway 62-65 North in Harrison.
