The Baxter County Conservation district has announced a plan to help maintain the water quality on the Bull Shoals Lake-White River watershed. The Bull Shoals-White River 319 Water Quality Program seeks to maintain or restore water quality in designated areas of the watershed water by helping landowners reduce silt runoff from their property. The program will help the landowner implement Best Management Practices regarding livestock.
Conservation planning and cost sharing of applied BMP’s will result in the establishment of usable vegetative cover on the pastureland. These practices include cross fencing, livestock waterlines and watering facilities, heavy use areas for feed and water stations, spraying for unwanted pasture weeds and planting.
For more information on the program and to find out if you are located in the watershed, contact the Baxter County Conservation District at 870-425-3527, extension 3.
Other programs are available for those who do not fall within the watershed.
