Marion County Library closed to walk-in visitors, offering curbside service

The Marion County Library is currently closed to walk-in visitors through August 2 but is offering curbside service to its patrons until it reopens.

County Judge John Massey announced Monday that the library would be pivoting to curbside service until Monday, August 2. The change from walk-in to curbside service is in response to rising COVID-19 numbers across the Twin Lakes Area.

Marion County Library Director Dana Scott says the library is open 9-5:30 Monday-Friday and from 10-2 on Saturdays.

The number of COVID-19 cases in the Twin Lakes Area has spiked in past month, with the number of active cases roughly doubling every 14 days.

According to data published by the Arkansas Department of Health, there are currently 99 active COVID-19 cases in Marion County. Twenty-five percent of the county’s population aged 12 and older is fully immunized agaisnt COVID-19, with another 4% partially immunized.

The Marion County Library is located at 308 West Old Main Street in Yellville and can be reached by phone by calling (870) 449-6015.

The library typically sees about 60 walk-in patrons a day, with the busiest days being early in the week and walk-in numbers decreasing on Fridays and Saturdays.
