Employees at Mountain Home Public Schools will now have access to a financial literacy tool thanks to approval given by the Mountain Home School Board Thursday evening in it’s regular July meeting.
The district says it has programs in place to promote physical and mental wellness of employees, with the “SmartDollar” program addressing financial wellness. The district adds, “financial wellness is another of the major pillars of overall wellness.”
Mountain Home Superintendent Dr. Jake Long describes the program and it’s potential benefits.

The board also approved the Safe School Considerations as part of the district’s ongoing effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19 among students when the 2021-2022 school year begins in August.
Long says the district will continue many of the same procedures as last year, minus masking mandates which are prohibited by new state laws.

Among the considerations are continuance of social distancing. Water fountains will remain closed in the district and classrooms and buses will continue to have seating charts. Temperature checks will be required for students, staff and visitors as they enter buildings. The frequency of checks will increase or decrease based on the levels of community spread at the time.
Long talks about how and why the considerations were developed.

The district says vaccinations are not required; however quarantine protocols for fully vaccinated individuals do differ from protocols for those who are not fully vaccinated:
– If a student or staff member tests positive for COVID-19, they may return from quarantine to school/school activities on the 11th day after symptoms began, or if they are asymptomatic, they may return on the 11th day after the positive test result.
– Those who are not fully vaccinated and have been identified as probable close contacts may return to school on the 15th day after exposure, as long as they have no symptoms.
– Those who are fully vaccinated and have been identified as probable close contacts will be allowed to remain in school but are required to self-monitor for symptoms. If symptoms begin, they will need to be tested.
– Those who have had a documented case of COVID-19 within the past 90 days will not be required to quarantine if identified as a probable close contact of a person with the virus. If symptoms begin, they will need to be tested.
