Four rezoning issues dominated most of the agenda at the Mountain Home City Council’s meeting Thursday night.

Council members approved two requests from Anita K. Vazquez pertaining to property located along Spring Street behind Hardee’s. In the first request, property at 503 Spring Street will be rezoned from Residential R-1 to Commercial C-2. In the second, property located next door at 507 Spring Street was granted a variance allowing the property, which is zoned as R-1, to be used as a parking lot.

Attorney Ted Sanders, who presented the requests Thursday night to the City Council, said that the houses currently located on the two properties would be razed and the lots converted into an employee parking lot for the Hardee’s restaurant.

Council members also approved a request from Philrite, Inc., to rezone an 11-acre peice of property located at the corner of Pebble Creek Drive and the Sheid-Hopper Bypass from R-1 to C-2. The property, which is heavily wooded, will be developed into an RV park. Sanders, who presented Philrite Inc.’s request Thursday night, said the owner hoped to keep as many trees as possible in the RV park’s design.

The City Council also rezoned a vacant lot at 128 College Street from R-1 to C-2 Thursday night at the request of Dawn Properties LLC. The lot previously housed the Silver Saddle Motel before that building was demolished several years ago. Sanders, who also presented that rezoning request to the Council, said there were plans to build a retail outlet on that property.
