David Marshall Moon

A 20-year-old rural Stone County man accused of sharing child porn on social media now faces a pair of rape charges following an extensive investigation by Stone County authorities.

David Marshall Moon faces two counts of rape, a Class Y felony, along with one charge of computer exploitation of a child, a Class B Felony. A Class Y Felony is the most serious classification of crime in Arkansas not punishable by death.

According to the probable cause affidavit and electronic jail records, Moon was booked in the Stone County Detention Center on an investigative hold on July 7.

On June 15, authorities received a notification from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an image of child pornography had been shared on social media from an IP address in Stone County.

A trace of the IP address led to a residence on Danny Drive, with evidence seized from the defendant’s bedroom. Moon allegedly told authorities that he had a “moderate” amount of child pornography on his laptop and cell phone.

In a post-Miranda interview with authorities, Moon allegedly admitted he engaged in deviant sexual activity with a 12-year-old on two occasions. Moon also said he took sexually explicit photos of the victim, and received photos, which he shared on the internet.

A forensic interview with the victim revealed the activity began when the child was 10 and continued for approximately three years.
