A Mountain Home man with a lengthy criminal history is back in jail after being connected to a large burglary at a automotive repair garage in Mountain Home.

Brian Ashley Calvert faces felony charges of possession of methamphetamine with purpose of delivery, possession of a Schedule I or Schedule II controlled substance with the purpose of delivery, simultaneous possession of drugs and firearms, possession of a firearm by certain persons and theft of property (more than $25,000). Calvert is being held on a $50,000 bond and authorities say he will appear in Baxter County Circuit Court on Sept. 9.

Now 26, Calvert has been the subject of 10 criminal cases in Baxter County, starting at the age of 19. The bulk of the cases involve drugs and theft.

Calvert’s latest case is connected to a burglary reported to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office on June 24. According to a news release from Sheriff John Montgomery, items taken from the garage located on State Highway 5 South included a large amount of tools, parts, consumables and dozens of other items having a collective value of approximately $34,000.

One day into the investigation, Baxter County authorities were informed by the Gassville Police Department it had received pictures of merchandise believed to be stolen from the garage. Information was also received that Calvert was selling the parts and had them stored in a tent near the Baxter County Airport. Authorities also learned Calvert planned to go back to the garage to steal the rest of the inventory.

The business owner was alerted of the possible break-in and added extra security measures, including cameras, which caught images of an SUV and trailer that Calvert was alleged to be driving. Evidence would be located indicating Calvert was trying to sell stolen items on social media, including an all-terrain vehicle.

On July 19, BCSO received another theft report in which a lock had been cut off of a storage building and a photo was taken of the suspect. Calvert was identified as the subject in the photo.

Authorities attempted to locate Calvert at a residence on County Road 511, where he was located working on a motorcycle. Montgomery says law enforcement noticed multiple items in plain view that were allegedly stolen during the garage burglary. The items were photographed and provided to the victim for identification purposes. Several articles were determined to be from the garage.

After obtaining a search warrant, police returned to the CR 511 property and saw Calvert flee into a building as they arrived on scene. Calvert refused to come out, so investigators removed him from the structure. Authorities located 20.4 grams of a substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine and fentanyl, along with 1.2 more grams identified as the same substance. Also found were four white pills identified as hydrocodone; numerous syringes and smoking devices; and 19 firearms, many of which were loaded and ready to fire.

The sheriff says the garage owner was called to the property, where they identified 46 unique items that had been stolen from the garage, along with several empty boxes which previously contained stolen items.

A parolee and convicted felon, Calvert will face a habitual offender penalty enhancement in addition to his charges.
