Friday football results inlcude Yellville-Summit falling at Corning

The Yellville-Summit High School football team ended non-conference play on a rough note Friday. The Panthers went on the road and fell to Corning 20-6. Yellville-Summit drops to 1-2 on the season, and they’ll begin 2A-4 action in two weeks when they travel to Hector.

Salem was able to dominate its second game of the season. The Greyhounds put the mercy rule in effect as they routed Dover 52-8. Salem improves to 2-0 on the year, and next Friday will be their home opener and homecoming as they host Corning.

Melbourne ended up suffering its first loss of the year. The Bearkatz went on a short road trip and were edged out by Cave City 33-29. Melbourne falls to 2-1, and they’ll make the trip to England next week.

Mountain View was able to bounce back from losing its home opener a week ago. The Yellowjackets picked up a 39-7 victory at Hector. Mountain View’s record is now 2-1, and they’ll return home next week to host Quitman.

Harrison held on to its unbeaten record to finish non-conference play. The Goblins, currently ranked third in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media, came from behind to get past Siloam Springs 35-31. Harrison is 3-0 on the season, and they’ll entertain Farmington in two weeks to begin 5A-West action.

On the eight-man level, Marshall had a rough trip to Little Rock. The Bobcats lost to Episcopal Collegiat by a score of 50-14. Marshall falls to 1-2, and they’ll be back on the road next week when they take on Brinkley.
