Izard County boys, West Side girls win golf match, both MH teams second

In high school golf Wednesday, the Izard County boys and West Side girls won a multi-team match at the Course on Turkey Mountain in Horseshoe Bend. Mountain Home finished second in both boys and girls.

The Cougars finished 11 strokes ahead of the Mountain Home Blue team on the boys’ side. Mountain Home’s Gold team was third.

Landon McBride led the way with a 78, Denton Reilley had an 81 and Elijah Wilkes shot 84.

For Mountain Home, Will Beckham shot an 82, Gage Chaney had an 85, Isaac House shot 86, Ripken Finley and Chase Berwald each had an 87 and Duncan Conley shot 88.

Yellville-Summit’s Dawson Walker finished with an 88. Salem was led by Hank Guiltner with an 89. Viola’s top golfer was Landon Luna with a 91.

In girls’ action, Mountain Home finished just five strokes behind West Side. Reagan Webb led the way with an 85, Ella Brashears shot a 93 and Faith Hilvert carded a 100.

Salem was led by the 93 of Katie Fish. Mammoth Spring was paced by Adrianna Corbett with a 110.
