Friday football results include Yellville-Summit losing league opener at Hector

The Yellville-Summit High School football team had a tough road trip on Friday as they opened conference play. The Panthers fell to Hector by a final of 13-0. Yellville-Summit falls to 1-3 on the season and 0-1 in the 2A-4, and they’ll return to the home field next week to meet Bigelow.

Salem did not fare any better in its league opener. The Greyhounds went to Searcy and lost to Riverview 35-7. Salem drops to 3-1 on the year and 0-1 in the 3A-2, and they’ll host Melbourne on Friday.

Melbourne came up just short in its first conference game of the season. The Bearkatz were edged out by Newport 21-20. Melbourne falls to 3-2 overall and 0-1 in the 3A-2.

Mountain View was victorious in its last non-conference outing of the year. The Yellowjackets defeated Poyen by a score of 34-14. Mountain View improves to 4-1 on the season, and they’ll head to Searcy next week for their 3A-2 opener with Harding Academy.

Harrison opened league play with its first loss of the season. The Goblins, currently ranked third in Class 5A by the Arkansas Sports Media, lost to Farmington 36-35. Harrison falls to 3-1 overall and 0-1 in the 5A-West, and they’ll head to Alma next week.

Marshall picked up an easy win on the eight-man level. The Bobcats nearly doubled up Subiaco Academy 64-34. Marshall is now 3-2 on the year, and they’ll wrap up their current two-game home stand next week against Decatur.
