
The Melbourne High School boys’ golf team won the Class 2A State Golf Tournament for the second year in a row Tuesday in dominating fashion. The Bearkatz had all four of their golfers finish in the top 10 to claim the title at Cooper’s Hawk Golf Course. Melbourne had a team total of 236 to finish 29 strokes ahead of second place Maumelle Charter.
Roby Cooper paced the Bearkatz with a 74 to finish second overall. Ethan Seay shot 79, Caden Griffin had an 83, and Bradie Gunther shot 85. All four Melbourne players earned All-State honors.
Salem finished 10th overall with a team total of 319. The Greyhounds were led by Hank Guiltner with a 103.
Yellville-Summit’s Dawson Walker was 13th individually after shooting a 90.
