Wood joined the district in 1981 and ended her 40-year run earlier this year. Her first role as the girls’ basketball coach included a state title in 1986.

Wood was Mountain Home’s athletic director from 2004 to 2015. During that time, the district had 12 state championships between all of its programs. She later became the district’s research and development specialist and finished her career as kindergarten principal since 2017.

Wood says one thing about her career that stands out is the relationships she has built during her time at Mountain Home.

Wood’s latest honor comes nearly a year after being inducted into the Arkansas High School Athletic Administrators Hall of Fame. Eleven years earlier, she was enshrined into the Arkansas High School Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

Wood will join distinguished alum Jim Bodenhamer, community partners Dr. Rob Conner and All Creatures Veterinary Hospital and Earnest Perry Award winner Judy St. Clair in the Class of 2021 during the Mountain Home Education Foundation’s Night of Honors Thursday at 5:30 at Dunbar Auditorium on the campus of Mountain Home High School Career Academies.
