
Both of the Norfork High School basketball teams had a successful night on Friday, as they were able to sweep Valley Springs on the fourth night of the Bobby Hulse Memorial Classic. The Panthers squeaked by the Tigers 42-40 in the boys’ game. Norfork also won the girls’ contest over Valley Springs 60-33.
Calico Rock was also able to pick up a sweep in the classic, as they took on Alpena. The boys’ game required the mercy rule, as the Pirates routed the Leopards 80-46. Calico Rock also topped Alpena 44-39 in the girls’ game.
Izard County’s girls were able to get a win, as they hosted the final night of the Bad Boy Mowers Classic in Brockwell. The Lady Cougars defeated Lead Hill 50-43. Ava Lewis led Izard County with 31 points.
Izard County did not fare as well on the boys’ side, as they were edged out by Buffalo Island Central 50-47. The Cougars were led by Gunner Gleghorn with 23 points, and Denton Reiley added 12.
In the other boys’ game at Brockwell, Lead Hill grabbed a 74-46 victory over Rural Special. Cody Paul was the Tigers’ top scorer with 29 points, and Will Mancinelli chipped in 15.
Elsewhere, Ozark Mountain’s girls came away with a victory on the St. Joe campus. The Lady Bears were able to beat Guy-Perkins 71-60.
Mammoth Spring had mixed results, as they met Sloan-Hendrix in Imboden. The Lady Bears breezed past the Lady Greyhounds 62-40. The boys’ game had a different result with Mammoth Spring losing to Sloan-Hendrix 68-40.
Bergman’s boys had a long but good road trip to wrap up the week. The Panthers defeated Jacksonville Lighthouse by a final of 72-59.
The Jasper boys’ suffered a close loss on their home court. The Pirates ended up falling to Eureka Springs by a score of 43-42.
