
A benefit event for the Bob Davis Veteran Center is scheduled for this week. The Twin Lakes Thunder Rally is underway and will conclude Sunday at the Baxter County Fairgrounds.
The Bob Davis Veteran Center is a full-service 18-bed center assisting and supporting United States’ veterans in various levels of need. Its services include a coffee hut with pastries and more, a game area for friendly competition with fellow veterans and others and a job program to assist veterans with resume building, interview skills and more. An Army surplus store is also included and open to the public with proceeds benefitting the veteran center.
Vendor set-up at the fairgrounds will be Thursday from noon to 8. The beer garden will be open Thursday from 11 to 10 and Friday from 10 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. On Thursday, a fun ride is scheduled to start at 2 p.m.
Gates will open at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday. A few motorcycle rides will be held over the two days. The Peel Ferry backwards ride is set for Friday from 11 to 2, and riders must wear a helmet. The Buffalo City ride will be Friday afternoon from 2:30 to 5, and a surprise ride will be Saturday afternoon from 1:30 to 3. Each ride will cost $5 per bike.
Bingo competitions will be Friday afternoon from 2 to 4 and Saturday morning from 10:30 to noon. Bands will be performing Friday night from 7 to 11 and Saturday night from 6:30 to 11. A Halloween party will also be held during Saturday night’s music.
Other activities on Saturday include the Bob Davis Dice Run at 10 a.m., registration for the bike games and bike and car show from 1 to 1:30 and a ride to the Bob Davis Veterans Center for a tour is from 2 to 3. Those participating in the car and bike show at 5 p.m. will need to be lined up at 3. A trick-or-treat event with the bikes, cars, trucks and vendors is scheduled from 4 to 5, the bike and car show winners will be announced from 6 to 6:30, and a drawing for raffle tables will be held at 7:45.
Sunday will be the final day of the rally. as a prayer breakfast will be held at 9 a.m., and the final cleanup of the fairgrounds will follow.
