
The Yellville-Summit High School football team was able to secure a spot in the Class 2A State Playoffs on Friday. The Panthers defeated Johnson County Westside by a final of 30-20. Yellville-Summit improves to 4-5 on the season and 3-3 in the 2A-4 and will host Mountainburg next Friday.
Salem was dominant at home, as they stepped out of conference play for the last time this season. The Greyhounds invoked the mercy rule routing Cross County 42-6. Salem is now 6-3 on the year and will head to Searcy on Thursday to meet Harding Academy.
Mountain View suffered a heartbreaking loss in its home finale. The Yellowjackets were edged out by Riverview 7-6. Mountain View falls to 5-4 on the year and 1-4 in the 3A-2 and will travel to Melbourne next Friday.
Harrison breezed through its last road game of the regular season. The Goblins pounded Clarksville by a score of 35-3. Harrison improves to 6-3 overall and 3-3 in the 5A-West, and they’ll host Pea Ridge next Friday.
Marshall’s season came to an end in its opening game of the eight-man playoffs. The Bobcats lost at home to Subiaco Academy 48-12. Marshall wraps up the year with a record of 5-4.
District play began Friday for high school football in Missouri with three area teams in action.
Hollister suffered an upset in front of the home crowd in the Class 3, District 6 Playoffs. The Tigers fell to Reeds Spring 20-12.
Forsyth was able to advance to the semifinals in the Class 2, District 3 Playoffs. The Panthers needed overtime, but they were able to get past Houston 41-34. Forsyth will host Mountain View-Liberty next week.
Branson was one-and-done in the Class 5, District 5 Playoffs. The Pirates lost at Rolla 28-0.
