It’s been 29 months since Care Center Ministries began its partnership with the city of Mountain Home to adopt Hickory Park, and during that time period, the local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization has conducted multiple projects to improve the city’s oldest park. The completion of another project was unveiled Friday with the dedication of the park’s new basketball court.

Care Center approached Mountain Home Mayor Hillrey Adams earlier this year about the previous basketball court, which was a smaller, deteriorating concrete slab with one goal. Mayor Adams says the organization stepped up and made significant improvements.

Care Center Assistant Home Director Charles Lott took the lead on the basketball court project. Lott is also a graduate of the program who has been going through an internship. He is slated to take Care Center Ministries to Memphis in the spring, and he says Pastor Ty Cotter challenged him to improve his partnership-development skills.

There is a bronze plaque underneath one of the basketball goals to give thanks to the sponsors Care Center had for this project. Lott says one of the most notable sponsors is Farmers and Merchants Bank, and anyone using or viewing the court will see its logo on the backboards.
