A rural Mountain Home man is accused of breaking into his girlfriend’s residence and assaulting her. Thirty-two-year-old Brennen Hite was booked into the Baxter County Detention Center in the early morning of Oct. 16 and released nearly 36 hours later after posting a bond of $15,000.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the victim contacted the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office from her neighbor’s residence around midnight and alleged Hite came into her home on Timberland Drive in rural Mountain Home and started beating her. When a pair of deputies arrived, the victim said Hite, whom she was in a dating relationship with, had met friends at a local restaurant, and she later went home alone.
The victim reportedly claimed Hite knew the security code to unlock the door, and while she was in bed, he entered the residence in anger, smashed her phone and knocked holes in the wall. She claimed he then broke the headboard from her bed and struck her in the head with it. Hite also allegedly took her driver’s license and debit card, and the victim believed he was about to strangle her with the charging cord for her phone.
The victim was able to run from her residence to the neighbors home and contact authorities. Deputies went to the victim’s residence and reported locating Hite in a lower portion of the home.
Hite faces a felony count of residential burglary and misdemeanor counts of third-degree domestic battery, first-degree criminal mischief, theft of property under $1,000 and first-degree interference with communications.
