The Mountain Home High School football team wrapped up the regular season Friday night with a loss at home to Little Rock Parkview. Brad Haworth has the details.
Listen:
Little Rock Parkview has multiple D1 players on their roster, and it showed Friday night, as the Patriots posted a 34-10 victory over the Bombers. Jaylon White, who is headed to Ole Miss, tossed three touchdown passes; Willie Eackles, with multiple D1 offers, caught two touchdown passes; freshmen Monterio Elston and Omarion Robinson, both with multiple D1 offers each scored touchdowns; and running back Darrien Bennett, with an offer from Arkansas, also found the end zone. Running back James Jointer, who is committed to Arkansas, did not score, but had 67 yards on 14 carries.
After the Patriots jumped out to a 13-0 lead, Mountain Home pulled back to within one score, when Corwin Morris caught his first pass of the season, an 11-yard touchdown from Brady Barnett with 2:16 left in the first half.
But Parkview would get a touchdown just before halftime and then return the second half kickoff for a score to quickly push the lead to 20.
The Bombers, after an abysmal performance at Russellville last week, played much better on both sides of the ball. The offense finished with 285 yards, with that total including a loss of 26 on a bad snap on a punt. Gage Lindsey had a whopping 32 carries for 108 yards.
Mountain Home falls to 3-7 on the season and finishes 6A West Conference play at 2-5. Parkview improves to 7-3 and 5-2.
The Bombers will be the six seed from the conference and will open the Class 6A state playoffs next Friday night at Sylvan Hills.
