
Yellville-Summit wrapped up the regular season on a tough note at home on Friday. The Panthers fell to Mountainburg 14-0. Yellville-Summit falls to 4-6 on the season and 3-4 in the 2A-4 and will begin the Class 2A State Playoffs next week with a trip to McCrory.
Salem also finished its regular season on the losing end. The Greyhounds went to Searcy and suffered a 45-0 defeat at the hands of Harding Academy, the third-ranked team in Class 3A by the Arkansas Sports Media. Salem drops to 6-4 on the year and 1-4 in the 3A-2 and will travel to Booneville to begin the Class 3A State Playoffs.
Melbourne was able to secure home field advantage for its first playoff game, and Mountain View ended up missing the postseason. The Bearkatz came away as the 3A-2 co-runners-up, after edging out the Yellowjackets 33-30. Melbourne improves to 6-3 overall and 3-2 in the league and will host Atkins next week. Mountain View’s final record is 5-5 and 1-4.
Harrison was dominant in its final regular season game. The Goblins invoked the mercy rule, as they routed Pea Ridge 42-6. Harrison is 7-3 on the year and 4-3 in the 5A-West, and their first game in the Class 5A State Playoffs will be in Little Rock, as they go up against Pulaski Academy.
The second round of district play in Missouri was Friday, as West Plains played its first postseason game. The top-seeded Zizzers shut out Logan-Rogersville 52-0 in the semifinals of the Class 4, District 6 Playoffs. West Plains will host McDonald County for the district title next week.
Forsyth watched its season come to an end in the semifinals of the Class 2, District 3 Playoffs. The Panthers were eliminated by Mountain View-Liberty 46-21.
Ava will be the Eagles’ opponent in next week’s championship game. The Bears were able to beat up on Strafford by a score of 49-7.
