MH among 5 area football teams in state playoffs

The postseason begins this week for high school football in Arkansas, and the season will continue for five area teams.

Mountain Home will be on the road Friday for its return to the Class 6A State Playoffs. The Bombers will head to Sherwood as the sixth-seeded team from the 6A-West, as they meet Sylvan Hills. Mountain Home enters the postseason at 3-7. The Bears are the No. 3 seed from the East with a mark of 7-3.

Yellville-Summit will also hit the road for its first postseason game in the Justin Crain era. The Panthers’ opener in the Class 2A State Playoffs will be at McCrory.

Two area teams will compete in the Class 3A State Playoffs on Friday. Salem will be at Booneville, and Melbourne will have home field advantage, as they face Perryville.

Harrison will be in Little Rock for its first game in the Class 5A State Playoffs. The Goblins will be paired with Pulaski Academy on Friday.
