
The Yellville-Summit High School football team watched its season come to an end Friday in the Class 2A State Playoffs. The Panthers went on the road and fell to McCrory 44-8. Yellville-Summit’s final record is 4-7.
Two area schools competed in the opening round of the Class 3A State Playoffs.
Salem ended up being one-and-done, as they lost to Bentonville 49-21. The Greyhounds’ year ends with a mark of 6-5.
Melbourne was able to continue its season after beating up on Perryville 40-13. The Bearkatz improve to 7-3, and they’ll travel to McGehee next week.
Harrison was eliminated from the Class 5A State Playoffs in Little Rock. The Goblins fell to Pulaski Academy 36-21. Harrison’s season ends with a record of 7-4.
District play ended in Missouri with two area schools securing state playoff bids.
West Plains was crowned the champions of the Class 4, District 6 Playoffs on the home turf. The top-seeded Zizzers breezed past McDonald County 42-7. West Plains will travel to Hannibal on Nov. 20 to compete in the quarterfinals of the Class 4 State Playoffs.
Ava captured its second district title in three years. The Bears won the final of the Class 2, District 3 Playoffs by routing Mountain View-Liberty 48-6. Ava will stay at home on Nov. 20, as they meet Lamar in the quarterfinals of the Class 2 State Playoffs.
