A former Baxter County man reportedly holding a machete and threatening to burn down a residence in Midway has been arrested.
According to the probable cause affidavit, 30-year-old Scott Glenn Willett of Alma was arrested Thursday and has been charged with
felony counts of theft of property, aggravated assault and terroristic threatening, along with a misdemeanor of resisting arrest. The former Gassville resident is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center with a bond of $15,000.
The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a theft. Upon arrival, a deputy met with the victim who advised Willett had allegedly threatened her with a machete and stolen her car. The victim stated she did not give Willett permission to take the vehicle, but he had “showed up making threats to burn the house down while holding the machete.”
While the reporting officer was filing the first report, he received a call from dispatch advising Willett had returned to the residence and was armed. Dispatch stated the caller advised Willett was threatening to burn down the residence again and still had the weapon.
When the reporting officer arrived back on scene, he located Willett in the front yard of the residence next to the vehicle the victim reported stolen. After a struggle ensued, Willett was transferred to the Baxter County Detention Center.
Officers on scene were unable to locate the weapon, but did find the sheath to a machete inside the vehicle next to where Willett was standing when they arrived.
