The driver of a vehicle had to be taken to the hospital for treatment Wednesday morning, after he crashed trying to avoid a deer in the road. The Missouri State Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Robert Velasquez of Caulfield was taken to Ozarks Medical Center in West Plains for treatment of what were described at moderate injuries.
The report indicates the crash occurred when Velasquez swerved to miss a deer, and his vehicle ran off the roadway and overturned.
The accident happened at 7:30 a.m. on State Route V, 4 miles west of Caulfield.
