Arkansas’ unemployment rate falls

Labor force data, produced by the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and released Friday by the Arkansas Division of  Workforce Services, show Arkansas’ seasonally adjusted unemployment rate declined three-tenths of a percentage point, from 4.0% in September to 3.7% in October.Arkansas’ civilian labor force decreased 4,130, a result of 3,756 fewer employed and 374 fewer unemployed Arkansans.

The United States’ jobless rate declined two-tenths of a percentage point, from 4.8% in September to 4.6% in October.

BLS Program Operations Manager Susan Price said, “Arkansas’ unemployment rate has been slowly but steadily declining since the peak of the pandemic 18 months ago. The state’s jobless rate is now at 3.7%, slightly lower than pre-pandemic unemployment rate of 3.8% in February 2020.”
