Tuesday results include battle of top-ranked teams in the state

In high school basketball Tuesday night, the big match up in the area was a battle of number one girls’ teams in the state, as Norfork, the top team in class 1A, hosted Salem, the top ranked team in class 2A. The Lady Greyhounds were able to pick up the 48-44 victory to improve to 4-0. Chelsea Hamilton led the scoring for Salem with 21 points, and Marleigh Sellers scored 11.
Norfork falls to 10-2 on the season.

The Viola girls fell to Jasper 53-43. A.J. McCandlis paced the Lady Longhorns with 19 points, and Trenity Sherrill had 11, as they fall to 3-6 on the season.
Jasper topped Viola in the junior girls’ game 48-27. The Junior Lady Longhorns are now 5-3.

Mammoth Spring split its games against Jonesboro Westside. The Lady Bears cruised to an 85-22 win to up their record to 10-2. Brynn Washam led five players in double figures with 25 points, Chevelle Graves scored 15, Laney Young had 12 points, Megyn Upton finished with 11, and Sara Crowe scored 10 points.
Jonesboro Westside won the boys’ game 71-45. Gavin Boddie led Mammoth Spring with 17 points, and Andrew Jones scored 10, as the Bears fall to 6-6.

The Lead Hill boys outscored West Fork 86-76. Cody Paul led the way with 24 points and 10 steals, Quintin Sewell scored 17 points, and Will Mancinelli had 16 points and 11 assists.

In other girls’ action, Farmington blasted Mountain View 62-31.

In other boys’ games, Viola lost to Jasper 50-46, Calico Rock whipped Cedar Ridge 69-32, and Bergman was a 63-59 winner over Drew Central.
