A man who had three criminal cases opened against him in August appeared in Baxter County Circuit Court Monday and entered a guilty plea to the charges in those cases.

Fifty-two-year-old Dean Allen Clark of Mountain Home was charged with two counts of breaking or entering, two counts of theft of property and possession of methamphetamine.

He was sentenced to six years in prison with two suspended and four to serve.

Clark is accused of breaking into a shed located along Valley Drive, taking a weed eater and chainsaw.

The owner of the property came to the scene and verified he was missing the two items from his shed.

According to the probable cause affidavit, entry into the building was likely made through a sliding glass window that investigations found slightly ajar.

Records showed Clark pawned the items taken from the shed on Aug. 22.

During an interview concerning the theft, Clark is also alleged to have admitted taking packages that had been delivered to an address along Pioneer Trail.

He said he rode his bicycle to the rear parking lot of a nearby bank where he opened the packages and removed the contents.

Clark said he left the packaging on the parking lot. Video from a bank surveillance camera verified Clark’s story, according to investigators.

The owner of another shed located along Tranquilla Lane reported on Aug. 20 that the building had been entered and several items taken, including a backpack leaf blower, a trimmer and a handheld leaf blower.

Investigators report Clark pawned all but one of the items at a nearby pawnshop between Aug. 8 and Aug. 20.

In the third and final case, Clark is charged with being in possession of methamphetamine.

On Aug. 23, a Mountain Home police officer was notified to be on the lookout for Clark, who was reported to be staying at the Executive Inn. He had an outstanding arrest warrant with the department.

When the officer approached the motel, he saw Clark riding his bicycle toward Casey’s General Store.

As the officer made contact with Clark, he reported that Clark “tensed up” and was advised not to try and run.

Clark was asked if he had anything illegal on his person and advised the officer he had a small plastic bag of methamphetamine in one of his pockets.

Officers pushed Clark’s bicycle to the room where he was registered and were met by a woman who “immediately became belligerent” with them.

She advised she did not want Clark there and did not want his property there. Motel management told police both Clark and the woman were registered as occupying the room.
