Area holiday festivities continue Friday, Saturday

The holiday calendar is packed again with activities this weekend throughout the area, with one community hosting its Christmas festivities Friday evening.

GAINESVILLEGainesville’s Wonders of Christmas festival and parade is set for Friday evening on the square.

The event will feature a Mr. and Miss Merry Christmas pageant, open to 4- and 5-year-olds, on the stage at 6.

The Jingle Bell Parade gets underway at 7. Lineup will be on Second Street behind Town & Country Supermarket at 6.

After the parade, the Christmas tree in the gazebo will be lit, and children may visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus.

CALICO ROCK

Calico Rock’s Living Windows and the lighted Christmas parade is set for Saturday evening on historic Main Street.

The windows will open at 5:30, and the parade will begin at 6:45.

Santa will be at the Calico Rock Fire Station following the parade.

FLIPPIN

Flippin’s Holi-Dazzle Parade and Santaville is also set for Saturday.

The parade will begin at 4:30 along Flippin’s Main Street, with the theme “Flippin Through 100 Years,” at the city celebrates its 100th birthday in 2021. The parade line-up will form at 3:30 behind the Flippin Sonic.

After the parade, Santa, as well as some of his Christmas friends, will be making the old Flippin Gym their home for Santaville.

Santaville is an opportunity for family photos, decorating ornaments, getting hot chocolate and cookies, watching Christmas movies and enjoying local food trucks.

MARSHALL

An Old Fashioned Searcy County Christmas is also on Saturday’s calendar.

From 11 until 4, Santa Claus, refreshments and games will be available at Marshall City Park.

WEST PLAINS

The West Plains Chamber of Commerce Christmas Parade is set for Saturday. This year’s parade theme is “Angels of Christmas.”

The parade will begin at 4 at the corner of Porter Wagoner and Girdley by city hall. It will travel down Porter Wagoner and disburse at People’s Park.

ASUMH

The Coulter Celebration of Lights continues through Dec. 27 on the campus of Arkansas State University-Mountain Home from 5:30 to 10 each evening.

COTTER

The Cotter community is also celebrating a dazzling holiday display throughout December, with the relighting of the R.M. Ruthven Bridge having kicked off earlier this month. Other events are set for Dec. 18.
