
November reflected another positive month for Baxter County’s sales tax numbers.
The county collected a total of $818,075 from its 1% sales tax for the month, keeping 58% of that revenue and distributing the rest among the county’s nine cities based on their population.
According to figures released by Treasurer Jenay Mize, Baxter County’s portion was $465,921. That is a 13.9% increase of $56,945 in sales tax revenue compared to the November 2020 collection of $408,976.
Mountain Home Treasurer Marshella Norell reports the city collected $522,183 in November revenue from its own 1% sales tax. That is a 9.2% increase of $44,207 from its November 2020 sales tax collection of $477,975.
Sales tax reports are released by the state Department of Finance and Administration two months after the taxes are collected by area businesses. November’s numbers reflect area spending from September.

Mountain Home also received $252,043 in November revenue from the county’s 1% sales tax. Other Baxter County cities receiving revenue from the county’s sales tax include:
– Gassville, which received $42,665;
– Cotter, which received $17,412;
– Lakeview, which received $15,230;
– Salesville, which received $9,295;
– Norfork, which received $9,138;
– Briarcliff, which received $4,638; and
– Big Flat, which received $1,729.
Mountain Home’s 2021 sales tax revenues have bested last year’s numbers every month this year. Over the 11 months of the year, Mountain Home has collected over $5.5 million from its 1% sales tax, an increase of over 11.8% percent compared to the same time last year.
Baxter County’s 2021 sales tax revenues have likewise bested last year’s numbers every month this year. For the year, the county’s portion of its 1% percent sales tax has totaled over $4.75 million, an increase of 11.9% compared to last year’s figures.
Baxter County received $204,518 in November revenue from its 0.25% sales tax for maintenance and operation of the Baxter County Detention Center. For the year, it has received over $2 million from that sales tax, an increase of 12.2% compared to this time last year.
Mountain Home received $195,818 in November from its 0.375% sales tax to support its police and fire departments. Year-to-date, it has received over $2 million from that sales tax, an increase of over 11.8% over 2020’s numbers.
