Donations drop, jeopardizing Salvation Army programs

The Christmas season is one of the busiest times for the Salvation Army of Mountain Home, but this year there is a significant decrease in donations. Major John Robbins, appearing on Local Matters on KTLO-FM this past weekend, says the Army is facing a low point with its red kettles.

The Salvation Army of Mountain Home strives to reach a goal of $120,000 during its Red Kettle Campaign. With only $35,000 having been raised so far, they are asking for the community’s help.

Major Robbins says the donations to the kettle support programs year-round.

While the number of donations has decreased, the number of people asking for assistance has increased, specifically with one situation in Baxter County, says Major Michelle Robbins.
